Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

My toddler woke up grumpy and wanted a vanilla cupcake with sprinkles, so we stopped here. I ordered a vanilla cupcake. It was a little stale, but honestly that wasnβt a huge issue. The problem was that it barely had any sprinkles. My daughter got upset, so I went back to the counter and politely asked if they could add a few more. The cashier said he couldnβt. I figured maybe I hadnβt explained myself well, so my husband went over and even offered to pay for the extra sprinkles. He was told no again, and the cashier rolled his eyes. At that point I was just irritated. It seemed like such a small request, especially since we even offered to pay for the extra sprinkles. To calm our daughter down, my husband bought ice cream from a nearby shop and asked them for a small sample cup of sprinkles. We added them ourselves, and that solved the problem. The employees looked over at us and seemed to be giving us dirty looks. The cupcake itself wasnβt the issue. It was the customer service. A tiny bit of kindness and flexibility would have made all the difference, but instead we left with a bad impression.

I tried the cookies at FlyingMonkey. Their coconut almond cookie is absolutely delicious. I tried the chocolate chip, ginger cookies too. 8 cookies for $20.

I love these guys & their s'mores bar! Every time I go I discover a new goodie. Their range of desserts includes some for those with dietary concerns. They're my go-to place for desserts for my niece who's lactose intolerant & gluten-free.

Flying monkey was decent. We tried the classic and red velvet whoopie. It was fun to try something new but itβs not something I would need to try again. They were a little dry in parts with not enough filling on the edges. Just wasnβt blown away by any means. The guy working the counter was friendly and had $2 waters which was cheaper than most other places I saw. Not something that Iβm dying to get back to but would eat one if it showed up in front of me.

You HAVE to stop here to try the classic whoopie at its absolute finest! The intense chocolatey goodness of the cake is perfectly balanced with the sweet cream filling. Wish I could have waited for it to get to room temperature because it probably would have been even better - if that's possible. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Apparently, they have other tasty goods, but I only had eyes for the pies. Currently calculating how many I can pack for my trip home!
